ABOUT ZANZIBAR HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS' LOANS BOARD
In 2011, ZHESLB was established through Act No. 3 of 2011 and started operations in August 2011 as an autonomous institution. Board initiated for payment and repayment of Higher Education loans from graduate students. The Board reports to the Minister responsible for Education in Zanzibar.
In 2024, An act to repeal the Zanzibar higher education loans board Act, no. 3 of 2011 and enact the Zanzibar Higher Education Students’ Loans board (ZHESLB) act to provide financial assistance to students and other matters related thereto. This Act cited as the Zanzibar Higher Education Students’ Loans Board Act No. 2 of 2024 and started operations in March 2024.
FUNCTIONS OF ZANZIBAR HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS' LOANS BOARD
i) Receive and consider loans applications from applicants; ii) Set criteria, conditions and issue guidelines to ensure fairness in granting, repayment and recovery of loans; iii) Grant loans to students meet the cost of higher educations; iv) Search and manage scholarships and sponsorship for higher education; v) Put in place strategies to ensure a consistent, transparent, effective and efficient; granting of loans, scholarships and sponsorships of studies and put in place strategies for repayment and recovery of loan; vi) Maintain the register and other records of applicants, students beneficiaries and scholarships of studies; vii) Solicit funds and other assistance to promote functions of the board and viii) Perform other function that is incidental or connected to objectives of the Board as specified by Government Board.

BMWEJZ Inatoa Mikopo kwa ngazi ya Shahada ya Kwanza (Degree) kwa Wanafunzi Wazanzibari wenye umri usiozidi miaka 35
Masharti:
BMWEJZ Inatoa Mikopo kwa ngazi ya Shahada ya pili na shahada ya tatu kwa Wanafunzi Wazanzibari wenye umri usiozidi miaka 45 na 47 mtawalia kulingana na ngazi ya elimu.
Masharti:
Wajibu wa Mwanafunzi:
1.Kusoma na kuelewa Mwongozo wa Maombi ya Mkopo kwa mwaka husika.
2.Kuwasilisha maombi ya mkopo kwa HESLB ya Tanzania kabla ya kuomba ZHESLB kwa mwanafunzi anayefuatilia Shahada katika Taasisi za Tanzania.
3.Kukamilisha na kuwasilisha maombi yao mtandaoni kupitia mfumo wa uombaji mikopo LMS wa ZOLAS.
4.Kuandaa viambatanisho vyote kusaidia maombi yao (Institute Admissiton letter, Gurantor form details, Gurantor's Zan IDs, and Job ID etc).
5.Kutembelea mfumo wa uombaji mikopo LMS wa ZOLAS kwa masasisho ya maombi ya mkopo.
6.Kuwasilisha taarifa muhimu kwa Afisa Mikopo (Registration number and bank details).
7.Kusaini malipo yaliyopelekwa chuoni kwake ndani ya muda uliowekwa.
8.Kumjulisha Afisa Mikopo mapema, kama kuna tatizo lolote linalohusiana na mikopo yao.
9.Kutembelea tovuti hii ya BMEJZ kwa taarifa zaidi kuhusu Mikopo ya Elimu ya Juu.
10.Kuhakikisha usahihi na ukweli wa taarifa za mwombaji.
11.Kumkumbusha mwombaji kuhusu wajibu wao.
